The ideal candidate for First Grade Associate Teacher is passionate about progressive education and what it can offer children. This candidate has experience working with children and understanding of first graders’ developmental needs. The Associate Teacher will work closely with the lead classroom teacher to implement curriculum and support the social, emotional, and academic growth of children. Position reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

General Responsibilities

  • Work closely with lead classroom teacher to implement curriculum and support functioning of the classroom community
  • Attend to social, emotional, and academic life of each child
  • Work with children in creative and flexible ways to foster each child’s talents
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty/administration

Requirements

  • Experience in working with children in the early elementary grades
  • Physical ability to escort students (e.g., on field trips, to the gym and playing field)
